The latest update is terrible. Performance has slowed down with lag. The small notation numbers changed and are no longer easy to read. Why on earth would a game change such a simple and fundamental aspect of the interface?! Terrible. The ads have gotten more and more intrusive over the past couple of years, but this is the last straw. I will be seeking another Sudoku game.

The recent updates have apparently removed the large tile option for the game. The setting still exists, it simply doesn't work. The game still remains in small tile format that is simply way too small to be useful. I hope this hoped error is corrected soon.

Was I nice game but ads have over taken it.

I wish I had NOT updated the app. It's terrible now, and I'm looking for a replacement to go back to the way it was. The one before was great: easy to see, easy to use, easy to do everything!

I am a very experienced Sudoku player and I currently have 5 different Sudoku games on my phone. This is the only where the easy levels aren’t easy at all. They hardly have any squares prefilled and can rarely be finished without mistakes.

Branium is a complete scam. They try to double charge for their games. After purchasing one iPadOS game, I end up repurchasing the same game on macOS because they don't support iPadOS games on Macs. It's ridiculous to pay for the same game twice, especially at this price point. They got me for 3 games but never again.

I was an avid player until yesterday when the new update hit. The notes not hitting at designated spots for each number any more removes ease and transparency unnecessarily. I also liked notes not spicking for fields that are incorrect. This is no longer the case and there is no option for it. Lastly, my score collected over several years of 7.5M was set back to zero with the update. Needless to say, I won’t be playing any more.

There I was, enjoying your game yesterday looking forward to many more, here I am today, hating that you made the game playable only in portrait mode. GAME DELETED!

Numbers in the square need to be put in location order like a number keypad

Can no longer swipe over a number to add notes like before. This was my favorite sudoku app on the store, MOSTLY because of that feature…. Sad to see it go.

1) The hints given are less useful than they used to be. On the expert level, many hints often say "trial and error has shown this box to be X number", but what the heck is trial and error? We're supposed to use brute force to just "guess and check" instead of using a strategy?? The app used to use terminology that helped me understand what kind of strategy I needed to use to solve the puzzle. Something like swordfish or x-wing, information I can then look up and study. Instead now the hints are not teaching me anything. 2) Has the expert level been made much easier? Has the entire app been dumbed down so that anyone can do an expert puzzle? This is lame and not in the spirit of the game. You've made your app useless to many people who love sudoku. 3) When a hint is applied to show the number that should be in a square, sometimes it does the complete wrong thing and deletes the wrong numbers and/or notes. FIX THIS! The hints literally sabotage the player half the time... 4) For the love of god, go back to having the number notes in the same position on squares every time. Six in middle-right, nine in bottom-right, etc.

I like the visual aids - as well as the ability to simply touch anywhere outside the puzzle area to turn them off. The hints are awesome as well; makes for a great way to learn advanced techniques. Room for improvement: 1. the number buttons don’t always respond to the touch on my iPad; sometimes have to hit it several times. 2. Make the interface easier and cleaner as far as accessing menu options and going from one difficulty level to another. 3. Create the ability to turn off scoring; many of us have no interest in keeping score; it’s just annoying. With some improvements it could be one of the better sudoku apps out there. As it is though, it’s definitely not worth $12 for the ad free version. There’s better sudoku apps out there for way less ( like $1.99).

Have played for years and suddenly updated and mostly worse. Agree please don’t center (tiny) candidates. Plus this was a good app for trying to improve skill - now hints say trial and error? No more hints of finned or sashimi swordfish, no XY WING, etc etc. Plus/minus - I agree adjusting to new fill options awkward but some new options can be quicker.

Loved this app, it was clean and easy to use. Now the ad banner at the top takes up too much space, is wildly distracting, and the app moves much slower. The new color color scheme for the numbers at the bottom is also hard on the eyes. Don’t think I’ll continue to play this one very often.

I have been playing this for years but the ads are just terrible now. Ugh

I love the app. Have used it for several years. Great that it works well offline /on airplane mode. The latest release however seems to have shrunk the grid window making it harder to see. Also the alignment of notes is off, ie - 4 and 6 often show in the middle column making sighting patterns harder. So I’m ditching the app until they fix it.

I’ve been playing and loving this game for a long, long time. The ads allowed a quick opt-out and I could enter notes pretty quickly. Now I have to go very slowly with the notes, which has almost doubled the amount of time it takes to solve. The new design is growing on me. I like the color scheme when I select a number in the puzzle. The contrast is better and easier to pick up. I’m guessing that the sluggishness is an Apple silicon issue, because I have another game that had the same problem until a recent update. I’ll gladly update my review when this is solved.

They added an ad banner which shrunk the game area, making it harder to select the squares. Deleting the app and will find another.

I have had this app for years. The newest update is unusable with Ads and to get a usable version you have to buy it. I just deleted it. Don’t waste your time downloading unless you want to buy it.

This is easily my favorite Sudoku app. It’s streamlined and easy to use. HOWEVER, the ads are absolutely unbearable. Between EVERY GAME is an ad. I do recommend this app, but only if you pay to get rid of the incessant advertising.

I used to love this app but after the most recent updates, it’s gotten really laggy. It’s sudoku, so what would be causing it to run so slowly? It also messed up the notes options in the cells and overall the setup of the game is no longer enjoyable. I’ll be deleting this today.

Just downloaded the update. Terrible. Goodbye, played for 3 years, but now I’ll find another app.

This used to be my very favorite company for game apps. All of a sudden, it now wastes time with a loading bar just like updates to their other games. And if I don't like the current game layout and want to change it I have to sit there through yet another annoying ad, whereas before it would allow you at least four or five times changing the layout before you had to go through that. Used to be my favorite go to game but not anymore. I'm finally fed up despite the lovely interface. Regretfully, being extraordinarily disappointed, I am waving goodbye for the last time and deleting all Brainium apps. Will not be using again.

I loved this version of Sudoku until I freed up storage on my iPad by offloading/reinstalling. My data was supposed to be preserved but almost everything changed. My history and level has been reset to level one. This new version puts highly distracting ads right at the top. The keys no longer consistently respond to a light tap. The gameplay has also changed for the worse. Previously the “pencil” feature would only allow me to fill in missing numbers; now it will fill in all nine numbers. Takes much longer to finish now. I know that this is closer to the analog version of the game, but I really don’t have the extra time. Will likely delete the app.

After this latest update, this app has taken a huge dip in quality. The puzzle and buttons are both smaller than they used to be. The hints no longer show the different logic used to eliminate digits from cells. It no longer removes incorrect entries automatically. I honestly had check to see if it was actually the same app. Before the update, I would have recommended the app, even with the ads in between puzzles. Now I’ll be looking for a new app since the user experience on this one is no longer adequate.

You fixed the bug where the software puts in a number other than the one you choose. That’s nice. But in the new format the ads on top are distracting and annoying, especially when they flash to get your attention. I have to cover them when I do the puzzles. To make things worse, on at least one occasion, an ad had unexpected sound. This is not acceptable if one is in a quiet environment. Ads are too long before the puzzle can be accessed. And you can’t wait them out by leaving the app. The progress of the ad just stops and then resumes when you return. And I miss the floating keys. I am considering dropping this app and using a different sudoku app.

After playing a game an advertisement popped up that appeared exactly like what Apple would provide that said I had run out of storage space. Then I was directed to a scammy app that wanted me to download it. User beware

This is by far the best available version of Sudoku on the app store. It has really helpful features such as automatic removal of notes or highlighting when you press a specific number. It even has an incredible hint feature for when you’re stuck, which actually explains the logic behind the next moves you can make. It’s also fairly simple and user-friendly and they don’t give random ads while you’re in the middle of a game. I don’t usually write reviews but didn’t want to be taking this app for granted!

Have this on my iPhone and is a guilty pleasure but this version for the iPad is almost unplayable. The numbers and cells you select are not highlighted well, I’m constantly double checking my selections. Everything feels slow and not intuitive. I can’t populate the cells and the option to check my work is controlled by the app. It doesn’t even feel like it’s made by the same company. I’ve asked the company why can’t this be the same game I have on my iPhone but no response.

Great game, easy to play and fun. Not packed with wall to wall ads, that’s a huge plus.

Changed options to play are cumbersome and adds played during game are extremely distracting. I am now deleting this app

I like(d)this app. I tried several free Soduku games and they all have ads while you are in the middle of solving the puzzle. Worse is their sounds are turned on. This app doesn’t do that. I still get the ads but at least before starting the puzzle. When I upgraded to iPhone 16 Pro Max, I had to download version 4.0.8. The puzzle area became much smaller. I think it is half of the phone. The numbers you type have gotten smaller also. It’s easy to type other numbers if you are not careful. I hope the developers will test v4.0.8 on iPhone 16 Pro Max and will improve the size in the next release. Thank you for looking into this.

I’m reminded of “Classic” Coke and “New” Coke. The version of Sudoku was much more enjoyable for me. For example, with this new version, one can put wrong numbers in while putting in notes; the older version would not allow this. The white playing space is harsh; the colors used in the earlier version were gentler on older eyes. I liked the way winning would begin with 5 and “explode” through the board. For some reason, the player space often takes several attempts to indicate that a number is selected. Just a few of the “improvements.” Bring back “Classic” Sudoku.

I love playing this game. It never gets old and the app is so user friendly.

Been playing this daily for YEARS. I upgraded my phone. The new version has ads where the other on didn’t. We’ve upgraded to banner ads during game play now. To top it off, now it’s not working correctly (leaving note numbers in rows/columns without deleting them when a square is filled in. So we’ve gone a game that used to be good but has lost functionality and added advertising. I’ll leave my earlier reviews below, maybe it’ll do someone some good. Hey, devs, i tried. This is how games go extinct. ——————————————- So right after (like, late last month) I said the ad level on this game is about right (they gotta make some money somehow), the ads suddenly got longer and more frequent. Additionally, now Game Center comes up every time even though I have it DISABLED on my phone. Seems to be a trend; games are good, developers keep pushing until they become intrusive or overwhelming with ads, then I have to delete them and go find something else. Developers, you do understand that losing loyal gamers = lost revenue, right? I mean, you may get a brief spike in revenue when you raise ad frequency, but after that people quit playing and you lose more.

This app is great and works perfectly on my android or my partner's normal iPhone 16. Though, on my ipohke 16 plus, the game does not scale properly and the numbers are far too small, it only uses about half of the available screen real estate.

It’s ok but needs more background appeal

I have had this app for years and when I upgraded my phone and the app updated, I lost years of stats. The updates are awful. I can put hints in rows with numbers where that number already exists, if I misclick it automatically scores it as an error, and it's not responsive when I click around the board so I end up having a lot of misclicks. Also if you misclick it clears out the remaining hints for that number in that row, and when you realize it's wrong and delete it, it doesn't put your hints back. All around this app is no longer enjoyable and I'll be on the hunt for a new sudoku app.

I reviewed this app a few years ago and I still stand by this app being one of the most stylistically appealing sudoku apps. However, they’ve added a banner ad to the top of the screen and it’s SUPER distracting. I might actually uninstall if they keep it there honestly. Normally I’d just buy the ad removal but $11.99 to remove ads on a single app is ludicrous.

I was playing it and my protection flagged an ad as going to a bad site. I don’t trust this app at all!

Even if you can put up with the obnoxious ads and the degraded UX, the games randomly crashes - just goes to a black screen. A shame for an app that used to be enjoyable.

The amount of adds and ridiculous add duration is making this game totally unplayable.

You had a perfectly fine app, then the recent updates have made it worse. Let’s me paint hints in rows that have that number. Also wiped out my history, over 800,000 pts! Thanks(?)
